Themes for Master of Science Theses in Ceramic Technology

Courses

While being an independent industrial research institute, The Swedish Ceramic Institute at the same time functions as a Department in Ceramic Technology at Chalmers University of Technology.

The Department of Ceramic Technology, Chalmers School of Chemistry arranges two courses in ceramics:

Ceramic Materials

This is an introductory course in ceramics. The lectures and the laboratory lessons are all given in Swedish but the textbook is in English.

This course is primarily intended for the 4th-year students in chemistry, but all students studying materials science are welcome to participate. To make it possible not only for full-time students but for people working to participate, this course is arranged as a concentrated course, on three different occasions on three consecutive days (Tuesday–Thursday).

This course is held every year during study period 3 (January – March).

In 2004 the course will be arranged in the weeks 4, 6 och 8 (i.e. 20–22 January, 3–5 February and 17–19 February).

Forming of Ceramic Materials

This is a graduate course on colloidal chemistry and forming of ceramics. It is primarily intended for graduate students interested in the forming of ceramic components but is open to participants from industry who are keen to learn more about this area.

This course is usually arranged every three years but it can be arranged more often if there is a demand for this.
