On December 23, in conjunction with Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden’s birthday, we announced the new Queen Silvia Nursing Award 2018 scholars! Congratulations to Sara Nyström from Sweden, Maiju Björkqvist from Finland, Paulina Pergoł from Poland and Annette Löser from Germany (from left to right)!

These four nursing students will be awarded a scholarship of approximately 6000 euros in addition to a unique internship programme. During the internship, the scholars will have the opportunity to learn about healthcare and elderly care from various viewpoints, both in their home country as well as in an international environment.

The scholars have been chosen through a selection process where nursing students from all over Finland, Germany, Poland and Sweden sent in ideas on innovations to improve the care of the elderly. The breakdown of the number of participants and ideas from each country can be found below

In the spring of 2019, the new Queen Silvia Nursing Award 2018 scholars will personally receive the award from Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden during a ceremony in Stockholm.

Queen Silvia Nursing Award aims to contribute to meeting future challenges within elderly and dementia care by providing new ideas and high competence within the elderly care sector. The goal of the scholarship is also to increase the status of the nursing profession and encourage creative nursing students who are driven by change and innovation.

Forum for Elderly Care and Swedish Care International founded the Queen Silvia Nursing Award together with a group of collaboration partners as a gift to Her Majesty Queen Silvia in 2013. Since the initial launch in Sweden, the scholarship is now available in Finland, Poland and Germany as well.

We would like to give our warmest thanks and appreciation to our Main Partners and Founding Partners of this initiative, without which SCI would be unable to drive awareness and appreciation of the nursing profession. They are Aleris Sverige (Sweden), Essity (Sweden, Finland), Forum for Elderly Care (Sweden, Finland), Johanniterorden (Sweden), Medicover (Sweden, Poland), Vårdförbundet (Sweden), Folkhälsan (Finland), Hugo och Maria Winbergs stiftelse (Finland), Föreningen Konstsamfundet r.f. (Finland), Förderverein Anna Wassenberg (Germany), St. Anna-Stift Kroge GmbH (Germany).
