In the Silvia Nurse programme, you will gain knowledge and understand the ageing process and specific care needs of both younger and older persons with dementia, and the ethical perspectives in a palliative care context. In addition, you will learn to lead the change in dementia care and improve the quality of care for persons with dementia and their families. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be personally awarded the title of “Silvia Nurse” by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden.
More detailed course description may be found here.
In July 2017, we had an interview with Christine Hamann, COO at one of the biggest senior living institutions in Berlin and a Silvia Nurse. In the interview, she shared her experience in the Silvia Nurse programme and how Swedish education in dementia has helped to advance her nursing career. If you are not sure of what to expect from the programme, you may read about her first-hand experience here.
International Silvia Nursing Programme is offered by Sophiahemmet University and developed in partnership with Stiftelsen Silviahemmet, a foundation established by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and devoted to improving the quality of life for persons with dementia and their families.
