After a successful completion of The Silviahemmet Train the Trainer (TTT) Program in Dementia Care, Swedish Care International is proud to announce five new trainers from Medicover Senior who are now certified under the Silviahemmet care philosophy!
From August to October, five care managers and coordinators from Medicover Senior, a Polish healthcare company specialized in elderly care, participated in the Silviahemmet Train the Trainer (TTT) Program in Dementia Care. The programme, which consisted of 3 three-day sessions, was led by Eva Jönsson, a Silvia Sister and Head Trainer at Stiftelsen Silviahemmet. In the programme, the participants learnt about the Silviahemmet care philosophy and the evidence-based practices in dementia care adopted in Sweden. Throughout the sessions, Eva Jönsson also gave many real-life examples in dementia care and made every session interactive and enjoyable (thank you!). Apart from listening to lectures and participating in group activities and discussions, the participants also practised teaching by delivering parts of the training content themselves. The participants had many opportunities to share their past experiences in caring for people with dementia and visualise the application of the Silviahemmet care philosophy to their everyday work. Upon completion of the training, the participants were given manuals and assignments to prepare for the final examination.
On 16th October, Dr Wilhelmina Hoffman, Director of Stiftelsen Silviahemmet, conducted the final examination for the participants. It consisted of a written test, an oral evaluation and a presentation of parts of the programme material. All participants who took the examination performed splendidly, and some even included their own developments in the training material!
We are happy to hear that the participants felt that the training sessions were comfortably spread over two months, and they did not feel overwhelmed and had enough time to digest the acquired knowledge. We are excited to have five new trainers from Medicover Senior join the growing number of ambassadors of the Silviahemmet care philosophy around the world, and we look forward to them sharing their newly-acquired dementia knowledge with more people across the world!
Fun fact: Dr Katarzyna Hess-Wiktor, Project Manager at Swedish Care International, is also an accredited trainer in the Silviahemmet care philosophy now!
Silviahemmet Train the Trainer (TTT) Program in Dementia Care
Targeted at care professionals who perform or will perform teaching tasks within dementia care, the Silviahemmet Train the Trainer (TTT) Program in Dementia Care aims to provide the trainer with education material and skills to be used in courses for staff in different care settings as well as for affected families. Swedish Care International makes this programme available in other countries.
The Silviahemmet care philosophy is the base of the education, aiming at the highest quality of life regardless of the phase or type of dementia disease. The Silviahemmet care philosophy is based on the palliative approach to care, which promotes life and relieves suffering from early symptoms of dementia until the end of life. The training provides care professionals with know-how and tools to offer care from a holistic perspective.
